I think my history teacher hates me because I'm gay?

I'm a senior, 18 years old, and openly gay. A lot of people are uncomfortable around me and I'd expect it from younger students. However, teachers shouldn't be such ignoramuses. I'm a great student. I have straight As actually. All of my teachers have always loved me and really gotten along with me. This year, however, that's changed. See, when I was a sopre, I wasn't out yet. I was really confused and came out in my junior year. When I was a sopre though, I was very athletic (I still am, but don't play at school) and my current history teacher was my football and basketball coach. He's known me since I was in 7th grade. I was always one of the star players and one of coach's favorites. When I came out the next year, I didn't try out for basketball or football again because I was too afraid of what he and the other players would do to me. He's made it clear of his distaste for me, but now this new thing has started where he will quote the bible on different topics. It's against the law to bring up religion in school, but he leaves his bible out on his desk and sometimes reads verses from it. A lot of the other kids, who are not Christian, feel uncomfortable about this, but don't say anything. On Monday, he pulled me aside because of "my grade" which had somehow slipped from an A to a B. He read a verse from the Bible to me after everyone had left about "wandering astray from the path of righteousness" or something. I believe in God, but I don't think it's right the way he's treating me. I go to church to hear sermons. I don't need him picking on me and using God to shield him. What should I do? I'm considering talking to the principal or petitioning his right to teach. He's really bothering me and other students.
