What does a pea do in courtship?

They have a mating ritual that starts in the spring. The male displays his beautiful plumage and calls out loudly to the female. The male pea shakes his feathers in the direction of the female peahen to attract her attention. The pea with the best display will get the peahen. If the female is attracted to the male, she will come close to the male and he will flutter his wings and step side to side. Then he backs up towards her, drops down, and makes a rustling sound. At this point, they may mate.
