When people see a magpie they say "Good-Morning" Mr,Magpie and salute why ?

This is an old English superstition. Seeing one magpie is supposed to be bad luck, so saluting it and saying "Good morning Mr. Magpie, and how are your lovely wife and children today?" is said in the hope of warding off bad luck. The magpie is only bad luck in the Western world, in China it is considered to be lucky.
