94 Caddillac Deville, display reads "check electronic stabilization"?

My question is, will that system malfunction, cause a decrease in fuel economy? Will it force the car to go into "Limp Mode?" When the vehicle is first started, it goes through and says all monitored systems check O.K., then that fail for the stabilizers comes up. Thanks.
